Reply from Len Graf:
It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time!!
When I first entered, everyone turned around and were surprised (with the costume and entrance from the back) I did a little bow and tip-of-the-hand greeting to a lady to my right, and she reciprocated, it was so classy! Then when I reached the front and turned around while singing “… and do you dream again? For now you find: The Pia—ntom of the Opera is there!” I could see the eyes of the audience widen, mouths open and then the smiles, it’s the best feeling!
I hope we can do Sunnybrook, or some place else some time soon (Sunnybrook has the 10-musician limit for now) I can hardly wait to do it again at Resa’s concert!
I called George Jackson and we had a good chat, he was in the Navy at the time my folks were in the Army Show.
Have a very happy Thanksgiving!

Q: Question from Sue
For your August concert, I hope Mr. Liddell will consider playing a couple of 'brass band' pieces in honour of conductor Bramwell Tovey who passed away on July 12 of sarcoma. A lovely man and a superb conductor, he appeared with the Hannaford Street Silver Band some years ago. Thank you! Add an answer to this item.
A: Answer from John Liddle
Dear Sue,
Thanks for remembering Bramwell. He was a truly great man. I was at the same concert as you, when he played piano and euphonium all the while conducting that great band. We don’t have any brass band literature programmed for the next concert. However we have a Canadian composition by Eddie Graf. Bramwell was a champion of new and original works and I think that this piece ,Trade Winds, would have made him smile. This will open our August 4th concert.
See you there,
John Liddle
Q: Question from Carol Blachford
Hope a great time was had by all at the concert. My dad will be thrilled. He used to play clarinet with Encore. He is now 104 and going strong!
Will this concert be recorded? I would love to show it to my dad, a former Encore member and friend of Eddy Graf’s.
A: Answer from Ivy
Yelp! Videos recorded in the concerts are uploaded to Youtube. You and you dad can watch it here!
Q: Question from Martha
Would you please let me know the names of other orchestras and locations that some of your members are also connected with.
